Muyshondt Aeon is cute, small, well designed, strong, single CR2 battery based LED flashlight with two light operating levels. Aeon has premium R2 bin Cree 7090 XR-E LED. Body of Aeon is machined from Aerospace Grade 6061-T6 Aluminium. For environmental protection externally, Aeon has type 3 military grade hard coat anodizing. The black HAIII coating provides superior corrosion resistance and high durability. Internally the light is treated with Chemkote for enhanced corrosion resistance. The chemical gives a distinctive golden color finish to flashlight interiors. The quality of machining for Aeon is very good. There are multiple O-Ring seals at various locations in for water resistance. Reflector is built from solid Aluminium and has Light Orange Peel (LOP) reflective finish. The lens in front is made up of sapphire for enhanced strength, scratch and impact resistance. Battery contact spring installed inside is gold plated ensuring very good connectivity with the battery. Light operates with twist switching mechanisms. A specially designed switch in head actuates based on the level of twist. Muyshondt Aeon uses fully regulated two-state DC-DC converter based drive circuit. Overall the built quality of Aeon is excellent. Muyshondt Aeon comes in nice cylindrical cardboard packaging along with user guide.

Light Operation & Output:
Light Operation: Muyshondt Aeon is very simple to operate through simple twist switch. Twist the bezel / head clockwise to switch on in low brightness mode. Keep twisting further to switch on achieve high brightness mode. To switch off, turn the head anticlockwise.

Reflector: Reflector in Muyshondt Aeon is built from solid Aluminium. Cree XR-E LED is aligned and positioned almost perfectly in center. Reflector has Light Orange Peel (LOP) finish. Advantage of LOP reflector is that it allows a combination of throw and side spill and there are no artifacts or rings in the beam pattern.

Bezel: Lens protecting reflector is built from artificial Sapphire crystal. There is a O-Ring protecting the Sapphire lens; it also prevents water and dirt entering the lens assembly.

Body: Muyshondt Aeon is machined from Aerospace Grade 6061-T6 Aluminium Alloy. The Machining work with Muyshondt Aeon is near perfect and without any flaws. From the pictures, it is evident that the edges on both ends of Muyshondt Aeon are chamfered. Chamfering makes the edges soft and prevents accidental injury which is usually associated with sharp edges. It also helps in easy pocket carry without worry of torn pocket liners.

Beautiful bands of diamond knurling over the body give a distinctively pleasing look to Aeon. Core of head is built from solid brass. Some of which is exposed golden ring as you can see in the picture below.

Tail end has unique key ring accommodating design. The company name is also laser engraved at the tail end of battery tube.

Components: The body of Muyshondt Aeon consists of 2 main parts; head and battery tube with integrated key ring attachment.

Head: Head consist of outer anodized aluminium cap holding lens, reflector and solid brass core light module containing electronics & LED. Should there be a need to replace any of the components such as O-Ring, Sapphire lens and Aluminium reflector the aluminium cap can easily be removed from the head of Muyshondt Aeon. The Aeon can be called as a 'semi' open-source kind of light where, should a need arise, some of the components can be user serviced except the light engine electronics. As you can see from the picture, the threads and O-Ring are well lubricated.

The positive contact spring of head is gold plated and also serves as a part of specially designed switching mechanism. A foam ring surrounds the contact spring. Foam ring serves multiple purposes, firstly it prevents battery rattle; secondly, it protects the contact spring and thirdly, it provides partial reverse polarity protection. Here is a 360° view of Aeon's head.

Battery Tube: Externally, the battery tube has 4 beautiful bands of diamond knurling. Depth of diamond knurling is just right to provide good grip. Overall construction of battery tube of Muyshondt Aeon is fairly strong. Inner side is coated with corrosion resistant Chemkote coating. The inner diameter of battery tube is sufficient to accept standard CR2 battery with ease. The battery rattle is very minimal, almost non existent, the tube inner diameter is such that it will accept multiple brands of CR2 batteries. Foam on head further supports the battery.

Thread cut inside battery tube is one of the best and finest observed so far. Threads are machined to perfection and greatly help in smooth twist action.

One of the best part of battery tube is at the tail end. The integrated folding key ring attachment is simply superb.
