  Introduction:
Fenix TK11 belongs to Tactical series flashlights from Fenix Light. Fenix TK11 is third iteration in the Tactical series. TK11 can use of single, high capacity 18650 Lithium Ion battery or two standard CR123 cells. As with other Tactical series, TK11 has two two digitally regulated light operating levels. Brightness levels are controlled by turning the head. TK11 is once again a result of customers request based on their feedback. Fenix TK11 has high efficiency Cree 7090 XR-E Premium Q5 binned LED for very bright light output. Reflector used for Fenix TK11 is built from solid Aluminium and has smooth reflector finish. Glass lens in front is toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating. The electronics and drive circuit in Fenix TK11 employs buck topology with low voltage warning system. The body of Fenix TK11 is built of aircraft grade Aluminium alloy and has armored tank like construction. The flashlight is coated inside out with black color type III hard coat anodizing that not only provides excellent surface look and feel finish but also protects body against bruises scratches. HAIII anodizing makes Fenix TK11 durable. The battery tube can be customized to install pocket clip and tactical grip. The switch located at the tail cap end has black color rubber boot. There is a option change this with alternate bright orange colored rubber boot which is provided as a part of standard accessory. Inside Fenix TK11, the battery contact spring at the tail cap switch end is gold plated ensuring very good connectivity with the battery. At the same time, the positive contact on head has solid disk soldered over PCB. There are thick O-Ring seals at various places for waterproofing. Fenix TK11 meets IPX-8 Waterproof Standard. The Overall build quality of Fenix TK11 is excellent. Fenix TK11 comes in cardboard box packaging with a few accessories supplied as standard along with Fenix TK11.

Light Operation & Output:
Light Operation: Click switch. For Switching ON / OFF use tail cap switch. Click once to switch on, click again to switch off. Since the switch is forward type click switch, you can activate the light in momentary mode by half pressing the switch.

Turbo Mode: Turbo mode is achieved by fully tightening the head. The light output is maximum in this mode. Typically 225 Lumens.
General Mode: Loosen the head for general mode for low light output. Typically 60 Lumens.

In-Depth Review & Pictures:
Packaging: Fenix TK11 comes packaged card board box. Inside the main card board box, there is blister type molded container with two compartments; one holding flashlight and other containing accessories. The box has transparent window reveling the Fenix TK11 flashlight. The front side of box has mention of major features of Fenix TK11. The back side of box has company brief and company contact information.



Here is the picture of blister type molded container. There are two compartments; one holding flashlight and other containing accessories.


Inside the container has carry pouch, warranty, user manual, lanyard and O-Rings.


Accessories arranged in picture are: lanyard on top; bottom row has thick O-Ring that installs on head side of battery tube, second O-Ring, smaller and thinner, installs on tail cap side of battery tube; and lastly the orange colored tail cap boot.


Size Comparison: Pictured below From L to R: Fenix T1, Fenix TK10 and Fenix TK11. The head and tail cap portion of Fenix TK11 is nearly identical to Fenix TK10, where as the upper part of battery tube is modified to facilitate heat exchange. On a side by side comparison you will notice that all lights share similar physical features and have same class of construction; Robust, tank like and strong built.

Comparison between Fenix T1, FenixTK10 and FenixTK11: On the left is Fenix T1, in center is Fenix TK11 and on right is Fenix TK10. The reflectors have almost same dimensions both diameter and length. LED's are also same and so is light output and total illumination.


What's considerably different is the reflector finish and the main construction of flashlight heads. The head of Fenix T1 has more components as compared to Fenix TK10 and Fenix TK11. Most noticeable difference is absence of bezel ring on Fenix TK10 and Fenix TK11. For Fenix T1 the reflector, AR coated glass lens and O-Ring are accessed by opening the bezel ring; where as for Fenix TK10 and Fenix TK11 these components are sealed through other side of head. One advantage of this arrangement is simpler construction and less parts mean less things to get loose or fall off. Not that Fenix T1's bezel ring will fall off easily, in fact, in many cases it is sealed with loctite. The LOP finish of Fenix TK11 is on slightly stronger side as compared with Fenix T1. The Fenix TK11 is designed to keep throw in mind. The reflector of Fenix TK11 is having a smooth but some what ringy finish.


The design of tail cap for Fenix T1, Fenix TK10 and Fenix TK11 share similar features. Switch activation is easy to activate the light and operate the switch. The new tail cap design does not support tail standing of flashlight.


Bezel: Cree XR-E LED is aligned perfectly in center. As mentioned earlier, the reflector in Fenix TK11 built of solid Aluminium with smooth / ringy finish on reflective surface of reflector. Smooth reflector enables good throw with slightly less side spill. Beam pattern is slightly ringy, but the hotspot is near perfect.

Body: Fenix TK11 is built from aircraft grade Aluminium with black type III hard coat anodizing for protection from wear and tear. The built quality of Fenix TK11 is excellent.


Battery tube has diamond knurling which provide good grip. There are two flat surfaces machined on battery tube. On one side "Fenix TK11" is laser engraved.


On other side of battery tube, battery polarity markings are laser engraved. The positive is towards the head and negative is towards the tail cap.


Tail cap has means of attaching lanyard. Overall the construction of Fenix TK11 is very strong and durable.


Components: Fenix TK11 consists of three main components, head, battery tube and tail cap. Head houses LED, reflector and electronics. AW18650 battery can be easily accommodated in battery tube. There is no rattle of batteries yet enough space is there for free movement and to support different brands of 18650 sized batteries. Tail cap has switch with rubber boot. The O-Ring on head side of battery tube is considerably thick as compared to O-Ring seal on tail cap end.


Head: Here is a more detailed look at head of Fenix TK11. At first look, you will be surprised to see the strong built single piece encapsulation of the electronics, LED & reflector. This is considerably different than that of Fenix T1 Tactical. At the bezel end there is single machined circumferential ring just to enhance cosmetic appearance. There are three crenellations on bezel. Crenellations are typical features of a tactical flashlight. The light escaping out of the crenellations help to let you know if the flashlight is on when kept bezel down on a flat surface.


The positive contact metal disk is soldered over the PCB. This ensures good contact and makes it very durable. Apart from the positive contact disk there are two semi circular disks soldered on either side of the contact serving as physical means of reverse polarity protection.


Here is a 360 view for head of Fenix TK 11. There are six flat surfaces machined over the head supporting aesthetics of head and preventing rollover of light if placed on inclined surface.


Battery Tube: Each and every component of Fenix TK11 has been carefully thought of and built to last long. Battery tube of Fenix TK11 is no exception. The battery tube is anodized inside out except for the threads on head end. Threads at head end on battery tube take active part in conducting current.


There is a band of diamond knurling on battery tube of Fenix TK11 offers very good grip. Battery tube has flat machined surface making a place available for laser engraving. Light model and company logo are laser engraved on one of the flat surface.


And now comes the super interesting part. The O-Ring on battery tube of Fenix TK11 at the bezel end is THICK.

The O-Ring on battery tube of Fenix TK11 at tail cap end is equally strong. Threads on both sides of battery tube are clean and machined to perfection.

Tail cap: The tail cap of Fenix TK11 is anodized inside out. Negative contact spring on Fenix TK11 is gold plated. Bare Aluminium ring is screw in holds the switch assembly.


Battery tube has a nice band of rough diamond knurling for good grip. All edges are chamfered and smoothed.


For better grip, even the rubber tail cap boot is 'knurled'.

Beam Shots:
The Beam shot Matrix shows Fenix TK11 on General & Turbo light levels with single AW 18650 battery. Beam profile is generally tight hotspot with relatively good side spill. At shorter distances less than 30 cm's, you might notice a dark spot in center of hotspot. This is very typical of all lights that are designed for maximum throw. All beam shots are taken at f/8 aperture with varying shutter speed.

Runtime:
Equipment Used: Custom built Integrating Sphere with Gossen Mavolux 5032 Class B USB Light Meter as photometer. Mavolux 5032 B USB is high precision, high accuracy and high quality light meter with conformance to DIN 5032-7 and CIE 69 standards. Utmost care has taken to ensure that the light measurements are accurate.

AW 18650 Li-Ion Turbo: The runtime for Fenix TK11 with fully charged AW 18650 Li-Ion battery on Turbo light output level is about 2 Hours 25 Minutes till 50%. For the first 24 Minutes, the light output remains fairly in regulation with 215 Lumens at the bezel. Starting from 24 Minutes light output follows standard Li-Ion discharge curve with drop in output from 215 Lumens to 140 lumens at 2 Hours 15 Minutes. Next 10 minutes witness the sharp drop in output indicating depleted battery. The light then enters in "moon mode"

AW 18650 Li-Ion General: The runtime for Fenix TK11 with AW 18650 Li-Ion in General mode of light output is about 14 Hours and 40 Minutes till 50%. The light output remains regulated for the entire duration with 47 Lumens at the bezel.

Runtimes Conclusion: Fenix TK11 is capable of delivering upwards of 200 Lumens for about 1/2 hours, at the same time you can switch of low output of nearly 50 Lumens and get much longer runtime. Depending on the need the light can cater to various illumination requirements.
