HiTECH NiMH C is an economical alternative rechargeable NiMH battery available at DepotEco.com & GreenOnlineProducts.com. HiTECH NiMH batteries can be recharged up to 500 times. These batteries are excellent choice for users who use batteries on a daily or weekly basis. They work great in high current draw applications such as single or dual cell based flashlights, digital cameras and transceivers etc. Using NiMH rechargeable batteries is particularly advantageous when compared to single-use Alkaline batteries. Using NiMH batteries means saving money as you can reuse them over and over again! Not only that but the NiMH batteries are also more environmentally friendly than standard Alkaline battery. However, their only drawback is that NiMH batteries have high self discharge. Fully charged batteries, if kept unused, are reduced to about half their stored energy in about two months. You can top off batteries by charging again though. Fortunately, this drawback is not a issue for people who use batteries on a daily or weekly basis as they retain up to 90% of charged energy by a week.

Testing Equipment: Vencon UBA5 was used for it's extensive capabilities. Vencon UBA5 not only allows charging and discharging of batteries, it also enables unlimited possibilities for creation of analysis routines.
Battery Condition: The batteries used for this test are manufactured in Q1 2008 and the test are performed in Q4 2008. The batteries are new and did not go through any charge discharge cycles prior to our testing.
Test Condition: The tests performed considering battery capacity of 1000.0 mAh as 1C. Battery was subjected to a total of 15 charge discharge cycles at various discharge rates. For each charge cycle, the battery charged using NiMH Peak Charge algorithm with charge current as 1C. The charge termination method of ΔV/Δt with change in voltage(ΔV) over time(Δt) set to -0.004V for charge termination. For each discharge cycle, battery discharged at constant current discharge rates of 1C, 5A, 4A, 3A and 2A depending on the subroutine. Discharge termination voltage set to 0.9V. The test was performed on single battery sample. As the battery was new and fresh, the battery was subjected to 5 charge discharge forming cycles at 1C and later subjected to 1C charge and varying discharge rates.
